ASKED QUESTIONS - Safety
Q.
Will my abuser be able to find me at the Transition House?
A. Your stay at our Transition House is strictly
confidential. We do not give out information about anyone staying
at our Transition House or using our services without their
permission.
Our address is also confidential for the protection of our clients.
In order to maintain your safety, you should be extremely cautious
about letting people know if you are staying at the Transition
House. Women staying at the Transition House are asked to not
disclose the location of the house. We ask that anyone (besides
staff) coming to the Transition House call prior to coming.
However many people in our community know where the TH is so
if your partner really wants to find out, there is a good chance
that someone would inform him of the location. If this is a
concern for you, please let us know and we will create a safety
plan with you. We also have an alarm system that we set at night.
Q.
How do I make a safety plan for myself and my children?
A. Safety planning is extremely important when
you are leaving an abusive relationship. For more information
on making a safety plan, visit www.shelternet.ca and click on
“Make
a Safety Plan” in the upper right corner of your screen.
